Expertise
Ben is a highly-motivated, client-focused professional, with experience working for developers, not-for-profit registered providers since 2004, and he is now on the consultancy side on both residential and commercial projects throughout the UK.
Ben has successfully worked on and advised clients on projects ranging from £500,000 to £30m, in multiple sectors from BTR, PRS, residential and commercial managing the pre- and post-contract activities on several complex projects, taking on the role of quantity surveyor, project management, and employer’s agent roles, as well as client care partner for several clients.
His current daily role includes working with the directors as part of the senior management team to ensure the success of the business, from quality and timely delivery of service, to managing a team of quantity surveyors and project managers at all levels across two offices; London and part of Kibworth, to ensure a high level of service is maintained throughout, in line with our Quality and Environmental Management System.
Ben is passionate about supporting junior members of the team to grow their expertise within Gateley RJA and ultimately deliver the best level of service for clients.
How do you help clients?
By building close relationships with clients, I look for solutions to their problems, look to mitigate key risks and tailor the service to suit their requirements whilst keeping a close eye on costs and look for value engineering measures when required to get the best outcome for the client. Having worked for a contractor, residential provider and as a client I fully understand the challenges faced by all stakeholders on a project. By carrying out viability studies I am able to advise clients on the best approach for their projects from initiation, planning, development, construction and advice on the most suitable contract for their needs. I help clients by continually looking at improvements to service delivery to improve the experience for our clients.
Experience
- Acting as portfolio lead and CCP on a 1,393 affordable homes programme over multiple sites for Sage Homes RP Limited over a 2-year period and Build-to-Rent programme of 1,522 homes over multiple sites for Leaf Living for 1 year.
- Acting as project manager/ quantity surveyor/ clerk of works on conversion of an art deco cable works into four apartments and community centre – Kent for a JCT D&B contract.
- Acting as contract administrator/ employer’s agent for pre- and post-contract on volumetric modular development of 153 affordable housing units – Broadstairs, Thanet for a JCT D&B contract.
- Acting as employer’s agent for development of 224 affordable housing units – Northfleet, Kent.
- Acting as contract administrator/ employer’s agent for pre- and post-contract on garage conversion site to affordable housing development – Bucks for a JCT D&B contract.
- Acting as employer’s agent for various s.S106 affordable housing developments across the UK.
