Emily is a solicitor in the employment team and advises clients across a range of sectors, including logistics, hospitality, construction, identity security and broadcasting/ media. Emily works on both contentious and non-contentious matters as well as providing employment support on corporate transactions.
 
Emily has experience managing Employment Tribunal claims from initial instructions through to hearings, including drafting key case documents, assisting with disclosure and collaborating with counsel and clients throughout the litigation process. She also advises on day-to-day HR and employee relations issues and supports employers with negotiations and settlements.
 
Alongside her advisory and contentious work, Emily assists on M&A and share sale transactions, including carrying out employment due diligence, TUPE considerations and preparing employment-related reports.

Experience

  1. Managed a £45m corporate transaction by carrying out employment due diligence and advising on workforce risks for a high-profile business with approximately 350 employees.
  2. Advised employers via dedicated helplines on a range of day-to-day HR issues, including sickness absence management, recurring lateness and probationary reviews.
  3. Coordinated with multiple parties in a complex multi-claimant, multi-respondent matter, ensuring clear communication and playing an active role in negotiations to secure favourable settlement terms for the client.
  4. Supported a large national restaurant operator in a test case before the Employment Tribunal concerning whether service charges paid through a tronc scheme should be treated as part of an employee’s normal remuneration for holiday pay purposes.
  5. Navigated a complex seven day Employment Tribunal claim for a regulated sector employer, defending allegations including automatic unfair dismissal and discrimination.
